The Outdoor Enthusiasts! Club of Moncton is a non-profit organization that actively promotes outdoor activities for its members such as walking, hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and bicycling. These activities are planned four months in advance and are led by club members that are familiar with the trails. While generally on weekends, the club also plans a summer week long camping and hiking trip, overnight camping, and backpacking trips.
Hiking events are generally up to 10-15 kms and are classified as easy, moderate, or strenuous. Biking, skiing, and snowshoe events vary in length. Most hikes include an opportunity to socialize afterward with a meal near the event.
Club members support the hiking community by maintaining trails. A 7 km section of the Dobson Trail and 10 km section of the Fundy Footpath are kept up each year. In addition, club members attend and speak at wellness events and showcases.
In the past Moncton Outdoor Enthusiasts! Inc. has also organized group canoeing, compass courses, hiking the Dobson trail in a day (57.75 km), moonlight walks, beach walks, bonfire sing-alongs and storytelling.
The Outdoor Enthusiasts! Inc. offers single and family memberships. Our website contains up to date membership lists and photos of events as well as trip photos of various members. Members participate in an Annual General Meeting in October each year to elect officers and set policies for the next year.
