SUMMARY:2024 MOE Summer Camping Trip - Travel/Camping Information
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 MOE camping trip is to be in Gros Morne National Park\, Newfoundland and Labrador with hiking scheduled from Sunday\, July 21st to Saturday\, July 27th.\n\nGroup camping is reserved at Berry Hill Campground that will accommodate 25 people.  The cost in 2023 was $6.50 per person per night.  Do not contact the Park if you plan to stay the Group Camping area\, however\, you must notify Phil Hardy (contact information below).  If you don’t plan to stay in the group camping you may book a motel or cabin in the community of Rocky Harbour (approx. 5km from the Campground).  These would have to be booked directly with the business.\n\nThe main thing that is different with this trip is the ferry from North Sydney\, NS to Port aux Basques\, NL.  There are 2 crossings daily\, one daytime and one overnight.  Please study the website carefully at marineatlantic.ca.  It is suggested to take the overnight trip to allow for driving in daytime.  Please book early\, even if you are not certain you can go.  The ferry appears to be free cancellation if more than 48 hours prior to trip.\n\nIf ensure you email your name\, email address\, phone number\, arrival and departure dates as well as where you will be staying ( group camping\, rustic shelter\, individual camping site or other accommodation) to Phil Hardy.\n\nLinks:\nGros Morne National Park – https://parks.canada.ca/pn-np/nl/grosmorne\nMarine Atlantic – https://www.marineatlantic.ca/\n\nPhil Hardy – Contact Information\ne-mail – phil-hardy@hotmail.com\nphone – 1-902-432-0050

SUMMARY:Fundy Footpath from Walton Glenn Gorge to Eye of the Needle
DESCRIPTION:Please note this hike requires the purchase of a day pass to the Fundy Parkway Provincial Park (FPPP)\, unless you currently have a season’s pass.  Alternatively\, you may pickup a complimentary pass\, at least 3 days prior\, at any Public Library. \nThis is a challenging\, rewarding 11km hike\, rated as Strenuous\, which takes you from parking lot P15\, near the East Gate of FPPP\, down the link trail to the world famous\, Fundy Footpath\, on the Fundy Coast.  Descending to the Little Salmon River through beautiful views and vistas and begin crossings of the waterway making your way to the “Eye of the Needle”\, considered by many to be in the bowels of NB’s Grand Canyon.  Water crossing at the Eye of the Needle\, possibly waist deep. \nWalking/hiking poles are strongly recommended\, as are hard-soled water shoes or old sneakers.   The water component of this hike is no less than 2km and will be uncomfortable without proper footwear. \nA lunch and photo opportunity will be after passing through the eye and before ascending out of the gorge. \nMeet at Centennial Park – Dog Park\, 61 Rotary Lodge Ln\, Moncton\, NB  at 9:00AM\, or Wolfe Lake Pavilion\, Fundy National Park\,  9577 NB-114\, Chambers Settlement\, NB at 10:00AM\, or Fundy Trail Provincial Park – East Entrance at 10:40AM.   Please contact Gale Connor-Breau via the contact us form. \nContact \n \n  \n
