SUMMARY:Laverty/Moosehorn Loop Kelly Chase
DESCRIPTION:Lavery/Moosehorn Loop – Approx 7.3 km – Moderate/Strenuous. \nExpect wet spots\, some stream crossings\, and rooty and rocky terrain as well as the need to navigate a large eroded boulder area along the trail. \nDepart from Fox Field at 9am or meet at Fundy National Park Headquarters at 10:15. We will then drive to the trailhead located at the parking area at the end of Laverty Road. \nThe hike will begin at the Laverty Falls trailhead\, and will descend gradually but steadily for 2.5 km until we reach the falls. We will then continue along the path until it meets the Moosehorn trail. The trail alternates between stretches of grassy areas\, alder lined riverbanks and gravely  stream sides. We will eventually pass cold water pools and swimming holes along the way until we reach a scenic and eroded boulder area where we will stop for lunch before we resume our hike. \n  \nAfter our lunch break\, initially there is a very steep climb up the Moosehorn trail\, which becomes more of a gradual upward grade for the final 2 km back to the parking area. \n  \nFor questions\, please reach out to Kelly at 506-651-1673. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Cancelled due to NB forest Fire restrictions: MOE 2025 Summer Camping Trip
DESCRIPTION:Cancelled due to NB forest Fire restrictions\n \nWhere:  Mount Carleton Provincial Park \nWhen:   Saturday August 16th to Sunday August 24th (incl. travel days) \nAs discussed at the Annual Meeting\, we will be camping at Armstrong Campground in Mount Carleton Provincial Park for the 2025 MOE Camping trip. There is not much to do at this point other than mark the dates on your calendar and if necessary schedule your vacation days.  The first action will be for you to reserve campsites or cabins when the Provincial Parks reservation system opens.  If you wish to rent a cabin rather than stay in the campground\, look at the website in advance as the cabins are in two locations and range in occupancy from 2 to 12 people.   Reservations typically open in late winter / early spring and I will notify you of the date. \nThe activity schedule for the week will depend on the number of participants and their interests.  On most days there will be more than one activity.  Besides the trails within the park we could go to Sugarloaf Park in Campbellton for a day or do a section of the Nepisiguit trail. \nThere will be one or more canoe/kayak activities included so plan to take your canoe/kayak with you. \nPhil Hardy
