DESCRIPTION:Greetings all\, I will be doing two shorter hikes On Saturday the 12th\, one in Mapleton eco trail which is a beautiful 3.5 Km. wooded trial up and down through an Acadian forest. When we leave there\, we go to Petitcodiac and walk through the village and down a trail to the birthplace of the Petitcodiac River and back. We will try and meet up with the biking group at the Cornhill Nursery to partake in their delicious wood oven fired pizza and perhaps an ale. Total kilometres on both hikes would be about 8. DESCRIPTION:I will be leading a hike in the Dorchester area to Dorchester Cape\, the site of an old\, abandoned wharf. It is a deserted road and dyke hike to a sandy beach\, perhaps 9 to 10 kms. Eagles and waterfowl will be seen. The prospect of visiting the Johnson’s Mills sandpiper madness (peak time for this) after the hike is in play\, not to mention the Thirsty Whippet after that. Rated moderate i would say \nI will be leading a hike on Saturday the 30th of May on the Foster Brook Trail in FNP. It is a moderate to strenuous hike where we will be hiking up the second steepest and longest hill in the park\, this immediately after doing a river crossing. Bring water shoes for the crossing of about 35 metres. We will be starting and ending at Hueston Brook just before the covered bridge at Point Wolfe. It is a most pleasant\, scenic forest\, river\, and estuary hike. DESCRIPTION:Paul will be leading a hike on Saturday the 18th of October to Five Islands Provincial Park. Hike is about 14 kms. Forest alongside an estuary\, then on to beach and one of the great geological formations in the Maritimes\, then back up above beach along the cliff side for several Kms. to several outlooks then back to another forest trail back to the conveyances. Possible stop at a neat little pub in Springhill for refreshments on the way home. This is not a particularly long drive. 40 minutes to Amherst then to Springhill then over Lynn Mountain and “poof” we are in Five Islands. \nMeet at Irving in Dieppe across from Paul St.at 9:00 for car pooling or at Amherst Mall at 9:45. DESCRIPTION:Paul will be leading a hike to the Mary’s Point adjunct (next to the actual Mary’s Point) on Saturday September 13th . The hike is fairly easy\, but I will lengthen it a bit to make it somewhat worthy of a Saturday hike. This hike features dyke hiking to a beach with a whirlpool on the way for extra excitement and some hiking along a forest path. DESCRIPTION:I will be leading a hike(s) this Saturday August 2nd in N.S. We will hike to Cape Sharpe Light which is on a barren cliff in the Minas Channel\, and then Partridge Island and “possibly” Ward’s Falls after. These hikes are in or near Parrsboro (about 1 hour 38 minutes from Moncton) Rated moderate with a couple of fairly big hills. We will pay a visit to FORCE for lunch on their deck with a great view. DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, April 20th  Dorchester Cape  Paul Gaudet \nThe hike will be to Dorchester Cape Wharf and return. It is part secondary\, then tertiary road walking\, then dyke walking to an abandoned wharf that sits at the confluence (Maureen) of the Memramcook and Petitcodiac rivers across from Fort Folly Point. Lunch on a sandy beach then return.  \nRated an easy to moderate approximately 8 kms. Should be sightings of eagles\, maybe red wing blackbirds and perhaps various species of waterfowl (no guarantees).  \nMeet at Irving in Dieppe at Paul St. (I will not be there) at 10:00\, or at the town Square in Dorchester at 10:30/45 (I will be there). Weather looks good with sun and temps of 8 degrees. “Perhaps” refreshments after the hike at The Thirsty Whippet in Dorchester. \nBetter call Paul @506-381-0397

DESCRIPTION:Greetings outdoor enthusiasts. With regard to Saturday’s hike at Spicer’s Cove. I contacted Anne from the kayak tour company that does tours from the cove\, and she tells me that the road in is quite alright right to the bailey bridge and that the road from Joggins has one or two sections with potholes\, she did it recently and says it is most doable for the most part\, with a few places where care is required. \n  \nThe meet time will be at the Irving in Dieppe at 9:00 (I will not be at that one) then Amherst Mall at 9:45/9:55. The hike will be rated as strenuous for most\, moderate for others\, with some old dirt road walking to start (tides)\, then forest trail\, then beach\, then manicured trail with spectacular outlooks\, then beach walking back to the cove and our conveyances. The tide will not be on our side on this day\, so we “may” encounter a pinch point or two on our way out on the beach. Bring lunch\, boots\, and gaiters if you got em. SUMMARY:Parrsboro  Two Islands/ Maple syrup/ Pancakes.... NS Paul Gaudet
DESCRIPTION:With regard to the hike in Two Islands (Parrsboro area) this Saturday the 22nd March. \nThe hike will be on a renowned fossil beach in Two Islands N.S. It will be 60% beach walk to see Two Islands and Five Islands in the distance as well as Cape Blomidon\, and 40% rural road with great views. \nWe will dine at Davison’s  Maple Syrup and Pancake House which is on the way home\, with perhaps a stop at the Two Islands Brewery for some. \nThe meet time in Moncton is at the Irving in Dieppe by Paul St. at 9:00\, then at Amherst Mall at 9:45/10 then on to the Fundy Geological Museum in Parrsboro at about 10:45/11.  This has proven in the past to be a fun event. Our hostess with the mostess will be the dynamic Terri Mac\, who many of you may know. Terri tells me that there is no snow in Parrsboro as of today the 17th. Hike rated moderate and perhaps 8 to 10 Kms. With one long steep hill.
