SUMMARY:Minister's Island - St. Andrews
DESCRIPTION:September 14\, 2024 \nWalk where the water was!    Cross the bay on foot to NB’s own sea road.  Tour the home\, barns\, and summer residence of Sir William Van Horne – financier of the Canadian transcontinental railway.   Walk the perimeter shore trail.  Exciting day. \nSite Access – Island is open from 12:30PM – 6:00PM.  Admission – Adults $18 +HST = $20.70.   Seniors (65+) $16 +HST = $18.40.  Time and Distance to Island Access road is 2hr 28m (251km)   Active road construction on Saint John Harbour Bridge.  Depart from Centennial Park – Dog Park\,  61 Rotary Lodge Ln\, Moncton\, NB. at 9:00AM.   Secondary meet location – 434 Bar Rd\, St. Andrews\, NB\, at 12:00PM. \nLunch/Meet and Greet at Bar Road while waiting for road to rise. \nOnce on Minister’s Island\, park in the lot above the Barns.  Once we group\, we will walk the perimeter trail to Covenhoven\, tour the home and then take inside of Covenhoven Loop to meet up with Perimeter trail.   Follow Perimeter Trail to Barn for a tour before departing the island.   Trail rated as Moderate (distance) with a length of 7.5km. \nNew hikers or anyone requiring information\, please contact Kevin Dunphy at (506) 871-4457. \n
