Weekend Hikes – May 3rd & 4th, 2025

Saturday: Fire Tower Loop, Cape Chignecto Provincial Park, West Advocate, N.S.
Distance: 12–13 km
Difficulty: Moderate for some, strenuous for many
Leader: Paul 506-381-0397

Description:
This stunning hike begins at the Red Rocks Interpretive Centre with a long climb leading to a spectacular vista. From there, we’ll hike through forest trails to a wilderness campground, briefly join Eatonville Road, and then head onto another wooded path with a short climb to yet another breathtaking viewpoint.

We’ll stop at a pond for lunch, then follow the cross-country trail through the forest, finishing with a long descent featuring more amazing views, McGahey Brook, and a steep staircase down to the beach. The loop finishes back at Red Rocks.

We may also pass through a stunning area covered in white wildflowers  😊

Meeting Times:
• 8:30 AM – Irving at Paul

Sunday : Crooked Creek Lookouts, Riverside–Albert

Distance: 8 km
Duration: Approx. 2.5 hours
Pace & Difficulty: Moderate pace; long, gradual climb — expect a couple of rest breaks

Description:
A scenic hike led by Brian up the Crooked Creek Trail, offering panoramic views of both the eastern and western valleys. After reaching the summit, we’ll descend to the river, then enjoy a leisurely walk through the village of Riverside–Albert.

Dress accordingly

What to Bring:
• Lunch/snacks
• Water

Meeting Points:
• 10:00 AM – Fox Field (893 Hillsborough Rd, Riverview)
• 10:45 AM – Riverside–Albert Consolidated School on Water St. (big green building)
