MOE Weekend Hikes (7/18/2024)

Saturday July 20th : Fundy Footpath from Walton Glenn Gorge to Eye of the Needle
Please note this hike requires the purchase of a day pass to the Fundy Parkway Provincial Park (FPPP), unless you currently have a season’s pass.  Alternatively, you may pickup a complimentary pass, at least 3 days prior, at any Public Library.

This is a challenging, rewarding 11km hike, rated as Strenuous, which takes you from parking lot P15, near the East Gate of FPPP, down the link trail to the world famous, Fundy Footpath, on the Fundy Coast.  Descending to the Little Salmon River through beautiful views and vistas and begin crossings of the waterway making your way to the “Eye of the Needle”, considered by many to be in the bowels of NB’s Grand Canyon.  Water crossing at the Eye of the Needle, possibly waist deep.

Walking/hiking poles are strongly recommended, as are hard-soled water shoes or old sneakers.   The water component of this hike is no less than 2km and will be uncomfortable without proper footwear.

A lunch and photo opportunity will be after passing through the eye and before ascending out of the gorge.

Meet at Centennial Park – Dog Park, 61 Rotary Lodge Ln, Moncton, NB  at 9:00AM, or Wolfe Lake Pavilion, Fundy National Park,  9577 NB-114, Chambers Settlement, NB at 10:00AM.  Please contact Gale Connor-Breau via the contact us form.
